"Every year in the town of Ivrea in northern Italy, the locals take part in a three-day battle that involves the throwing of oranges. This photo series, aptly titled 'battle', follows my travels into the mountainous Piedmont region to witness the battle and the surrounding days of calm and carnival for myself. What I discovered was a town deeply connected to its history and passionate about the "Carnevale di Ivrea" and the rather brutal "Battle of the Oranges". The battle is more than just a three-day event, but something that has run deep for generations and shows no signs of stopping."
